Haley Stevens and Abdul El-Sayed in Genesee County after state Sen. Mallory McMorrow suspended her campaign earlier in July. Recent polling averages show the two candidates statistically tied statewide, with small shifts tied to the final head-to-head debate and differing fundraising profiles. Stevens draws support from moderates and suburban voters on the basis of her congressional record, while El-Sayed benefits from progressive endorsements and emphasis on public health and corporate influence issues. The narrow spread in trader pricing reflects limited county-specific data, the short time until ballots are cast, and uncertainty over turnout patterns among Democratic primary voters in the Flint area. Late developments such as debate fallout or last-minute mobilization could widen the margin in either direction before election day.
