Martin Landaluce enters the Halle Open qualifying final as the clear favorite against Tom Gentzsch on grass, backed by a substantial ranking gap (ATP 58 versus 229) and stronger recent results. The Spaniard advanced past Marc-Andrea Huesler in a three-set battle after saving multiple match points, extending a 9-5 record in 2026 that includes deep runs at Masters 1000 events and positive comments on his grass-court adaptation. Gentzsch, a 22-year-old German, secured his spot by defeating Tiago Pereira but remains winless at ATP level this season outside lower-tier events. With no prior head-to-head and the match deciding main-draw entry, Landaluce’s experience, physical conditioning, and surface comfort shape trader consensus, while any local support or unforced errors could create variance for the underdog.
