The single-tournament record of 13 goals, set by Just Fontaine for France in 1958 across six matches, stands as a longstanding outlier that has never been approached in subsequent World Cups despite expanded fields and deeper runs by elite forwards. With the 2026 edition only days into its group stage, early scoring leaders sit at one or two goals apiece, far from any pace that would threaten the mark over the full 104-match schedule. Modern defensive organization, squad rotation, and the distribution of opportunities across 48 teams further limit the chance of sustained individual dominance through knockout rounds. Trader consensus at 96.6% on No reflects this historical and structural reality, though an extended run by a healthy star such as Kylian Mbappé on a deep France side or an unexpected breakout performer could theoretically alter the trajectory if one player monopolizes scoring in a manner unseen for decades.

This market will resolve “Yes” if any player scores 14 or more goals across the entire 2026 FIFA World Cup, including extra time. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.
Penalty shootout goals do not count toward a player's total.
If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after August 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or it cannot be determined whether the record was broken within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “No”.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
