The primary driver of trader sentiment for Netflix's weekly #1 movie views is the performance trajectory of fresh originals like the sci-fi thriller *The Last House*, which debuted at 27.5 million views for the August 3–9 period and continues dominating global charts amid competition from titles such as *72 Hours* (11.1 million) and library holdovers like the *Spider-Man* films. Key factors include release timing, star power (Greta Lee, Wagner Moura), genre appeal for broad audiences, and promotional campaigns, which historically boost initial weeks before viewership tapers. New August additions like *Don't Say Good Luck* could spark momentum shifts, while Netflix's Tudum reports and platform algorithms influence retention. Traders monitor these alongside audience scores and social buzz, noting that top weekly totals often range 20–40 million but fluctuate with blockbuster competition or viral surges.
