In June 2026, Congress passed a non-binding resolution—backed by the PP, Vox, and Junts—urging Sánchez to resign amid multiple corruption investigations involving his party and associates, while also calling for him to submit to a confidence vote if snap elections are not called. Sánchez has rejected these demands, affirming his intent to remain in office through the scheduled 2027 elections. Opposition parties have not yet tabled a formal no-confidence motion, citing insufficient votes to reach the 176-seat threshold required for passage.
