Saudi Aramco is working to bypass damaged pumping stations on the East-West pipeline following drone attacks in mid-September that forced a precautionary shutdown, with U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright stating on September 15 that flows could resume within days. The 1,200-kilometer line, which had been moving 4-5 million barrels per day to Yanbu on the Red Sea and bypassing the contested Strait of Hormuz, represents roughly 4-5% of global supply. Aramco aims to restore about half capacity imminently and full throughput near 7 million barrels per day within six weeks, though repair estimates range from days to five or six weeks depending on damage assessments. This timeline is influencing near-term crude pricing and export schedules to Europe, with traders monitoring inventory drawdowns at Yanbu and any further security developments.

This market will resolve to “Yes” if the government of Saudi Arabia announces that the East-West oil pipeline is operational or no longer shut down between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.
A qualifying announcement must express that the pipeline is presently operating; operation at partial or reduced capacity qualifies.
Announcements that attribute such a claim to third parties, state that the pipeline will or may operate in the future, describe work underway to restore operation, or frame resumption as expected, planned, or conditional, will not qualify.
Once a qualifying announcement is made, this market will resolve to “Yes,” regardless of any subsequent contradictory statements, or alternative information from other sources.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Saudi Arabia.
