California’s 14th Congressional District held its June 2, 2026, top-two primary to fill the open seat after the incumbent pursued higher office. State Senator Aisha Wahab, who secured the Democratic Party endorsement and strong progressive backing on housing and labor issues, led with roughly 38.5 percent. BART Board President Melissa Hernandez finished second at about 17 percent. Multiple additional Democrats and two Republicans split the remaining vote, ensuring both advancing candidates are Democrats in the safely Democratic East Bay district. The special primary scheduled for June 16 addresses a separate vacancy but does not alter the June 2 outcome that determines the November general-election matchup.
