The Federal Reserve’s September 16 rate hike to a 3.75–4.00% target range, paired with a dot plot signaling one additional increase this year, has shifted market-implied odds toward further policy tightening and lifted the DXY to approximately 100.25. Persistent August CPI at 3.4% year-over-year, elevated energy prices, and robust nonfarm payrolls have reinforced the hawkish tilt, widening the U.S. yield advantage over major peers and attracting safe-haven flows. With a light economic calendar the week of September 21 featuring only jobless claims and consumer sentiment, near-term direction hinges on Treasury yield stability above 4.4% on the 10-year and any escalation in geopolitical oil-supply risks that could sustain inflation concerns and limit downside in the index.
