Silver (XAG/USD) has rebounded sharply above $66.50 following the Federal Reserve’s September 16 rate hike to the 3.75-4.00% target range and hawkish dot plot, as easing oil prices from Saudi pipeline restoration reduced near-term inflation pressure and pulled 10-year Treasury yields down from 5.04% to near 4.93%. The U.S. Dollar Index reached a seven-week high but failed to extend gains, supporting the non-yielding metal despite elevated real yields. Persistent structural deficits—projected at 46.3 million ounces for 2026 amid strong industrial demand from AI data centers, EVs, and grid infrastructure—continue to underpin prices that remain nearly 45% below the January 2026 peak of $121.62. Traders will monitor upcoming U.S. data including September PMIs, new home sales, and durable goods orders for clues on the October FOMC path, with resistance eyed near $68 and support around $62-63.
