President Trump nominated Jay Clayton, former SEC chairman and current U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, as Director of National Intelligence on June 11, 2026, sending the formal nomination to the Senate the same day. The Senate Intelligence Committee quickly scheduled his confirmation hearing for the following week, citing his legal and regulatory experience as a conventional choice following earlier acting-director complications. Clayton requires a simple majority for confirmation, and early bipartisan signals—including supportive statements from Republican senators and recognition from some Democrats—suggest a relatively smooth path absent unexpected opposition. The timing aligns with broader efforts to stabilize intelligence community leadership amid ongoing legislative matters such as FISA reauthorization.

If Jay Clayton's nomination is formally withdrawn, or if the Senate rejects the nomination, this market will immediately resolve to “No”.
The Senate must confirm this nominee as Director of National Intelligence for this market to resolve to "Yes". Recess appointments without Senate confirmation will not count toward a "Yes" resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market is official information from the U.S. Senate; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
