Sophie Llewellyn and Celine Simunyu meet in the W35 Santa Fe singles draw on outdoor hard courts, with the Irish player entering as the more established pro despite both competitors holding WTA rankings outside the top 1,000. Simunyu, a 21-year-old with a career-high singles mark near 788 and multiple ITF doubles titles, brings greater recent match volume including Billie Jean King Cup appearances, while Llewellyn, a 20-year-old SMU college standout ranked around 1,234, has shown flashes in NCAA play but limited professional results after a July loss to Liv Hovde. Head-to-head data is minimal, so surface familiarity, recent form, and physical freshness after short turnarounds will likely shape outcomes on the fast hard courts.
