Gold (XAU/USD) has rallied sharply into late August 2026, trading near $4,630–$4,650 per ounce after clearing the 200-day moving average amid dollar weakness and fading odds of a September Federal Reserve rate hike. Recent soft U.S. jobs, CPI, and retail sales data lowered the implied probability of additional tightening from the 3.50–3.75% funds rate, while Treasury buybacks and geopolitical tensions around Iran added safe-haven support. Persistent central bank purchases—289 tonnes in Q2 alone—provide structural demand. Traders will focus on the August 10 PCE release, Chair Warsh’s Jackson Hole remarks, and the September 15–16 FOMC meeting as near-term catalysts that could extend or cap the move.
