The recent Federal Open Market Committee decision to raise the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to the 3.75-4.00% range, coupled with projections for additional tightening this year, has provided the dominant support for the US Dollar Index (DXY) near 100.22. Hawkish commentary from Chair Kevin Warsh on persistent inflation risks and the dot plot's signal of further hikes have lifted Treasury yields and reinforced rate differentials versus major peers, driving a weekly advance exceeding 1% to seven-week highs. A relatively light economic calendar for the week of September 21—including flash PMIs, jobless claims, durable goods orders, and consumer sentiment—offers limited scope for sharp revisions to the market-implied rate path, though any stronger-than-expected data or escalation in geopolitical tensions could sustain upward pressure on the index.
