President Trump’s September 18 announcement of a Greenland security agreement with Denmark and Greenland—granting the U.S. permanent basing, access, and overflight rights while barring non-NATO adversaries from bases or sensitive investments—has focused trader attention on the timing of full text release. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen confirmed the accord will be signed at the UN General Assembly the following week, with parliamentary procedures still required in Copenhagen and Nuuk before entry into force. Multiple official statements noted that no detailed text accompanied the initial declarations, leaving the precise scope of military expansion and investment screening mechanisms unverified. These procedural and diplomatic steps, rather than sovereignty transfer, now shape expectations around disclosure ahead of the scheduled signing.
