The 70mm IMAX run for Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” which opened July 17 and was already extended once through September 16 due to sellouts weeks in advance on the limited circuit of roughly 25 U.S. screens, now faces a modest tilt toward no further prolongation. Strong early audience demand and the film’s exclusive use of IMAX film cameras fueled the initial extension, yet with the release now several weeks old and typical premium-format runs tapering after peak summer weeks, traders see limited precedent for additional months-long holds absent fresh evidence of overwhelming ticket velocity. Key upcoming catalysts include any new official announcements from IMAX or Universal around mid-August box-office or attendance data, plus whether the remaining September dates continue to move quickly enough to justify another extension before the format window naturally closes.

The extension must be officially announced between this market's creation date and September 16, 2026, 11:59 PM ET to qualify.
A one-time special, encore, private, or otherwise isolated screening will not qualify. The regular public 70mm IMAX theatrical run must be extended beyond September 16, 2026 to qualify.
If only the standard digital IMAX run (not the 70mm film format) is extended, this market will resolve to "No".
An official extension announcement made within the qualifying window will immediately resolve this market to "Yes".
The resolution sources for this market will be official announcements from IMAX Corporation, Universal Pictures, or other authorized theatrical distributor.
