Recent energy price surges tied to Middle East geopolitical tensions have driven upward revisions in Euro area inflation forecasts, positioning the 3.1%+ outcome as the market leader with 60.1% implied probability. The European Commission's Spring 2026 projection now places annual HICP inflation at 3.0% for the year, a full percentage point higher than prior estimates, while July's 2.9% print and firming core measures near 2.5% reinforce elevated pressures. Professional forecasters in the ECB's Q3 survey see 2.7%, yet trader consensus priced into these odds incorporates risks of sustained pass-through from energy and services components above the ECB's 2% target. Key near-term catalysts include the August HICP release and ongoing developments in global oil markets.
