Dennis Weilmann secured re-election as Wolfsburg Oberbürgermeister on September 13, 2026, with a preliminary 50.1 percent of the vote, delivering an absolute majority that eliminated the need for a scheduled September 27 runoff. As the CDU incumbent since 2021, Weilmann outperformed expectations amid a crowded field that included Karsten Schneider (SPD) at 15.5 percent and Thomas Schlick (AfD) at 14.1 percent, with turnout reaching 58.2 percent. Traders assigned near-certainty to his victory based on these confirmed first-round results and the structural advantages of incumbency in German local elections. Market resolution hinges on final certification of the vote totals, though late adjustments remain unlikely absent procedural irregularities.
