Court-ordered redistricting finalized in late 2025 concentrated Democratic voters from Salt Lake County into Utah’s 1st Congressional District, producing a D+12 to D+24 baseline that gives the Democratic nominee a commanding structural edge. Ben McAdams, the former U.S. representative and Salt Lake County mayor, won the June 2026 Democratic primary and now faces Republican Riley Owen in the November general election. Forecasters across Cook, Sabato, and Decision Desk rate the seat Solid or Safe Democratic, aligning with trader consensus reflected in current pricing. The Republican nominee trails significantly in fundraising and lacks a path to victory under prevailing district lines. Only a major late-cycle national swing, significant scandal, or unusually depressed Democratic turnout could realistically alter the outcome.
