Recent energy price surges tied to Middle East geopolitical tensions have driven Eurozone headline inflation to 3.0% in April 2026, up sharply from 2.6% in March and 1.9% in February, pushing the market-implied probability of a 3.1%+ annual average for the full year to 58.1%. Traders are weighting the risk that these cost pressures could persist through the summer, elevating the full-year HICP outcome above the ECB’s and Survey of Professional Forecasters’ 2.6–2.7% central projections. Core measures remain closer to 2.2%, yet the headline spike and upward revisions to near-term forecasts have shifted sentiment toward higher inflation buckets, with the 1.6–1.8% range still holding secondary support at 25.7%. Key near-term catalysts include the June ECB Governing Council meeting, May inflation data, and any further developments in energy markets that could either embed second-round effects or ease pressure.
