Recent energy price volatility stemming from Middle East developments has lifted Bank of England projections for UK CPI inflation to a 3.2% peak in 2026 Q4, up from earlier expectations near the 2% target, pushing trader consensus toward the 2.5–2.9% annual average range. June 2026 CPI eased to 2.6%, with core measures stable, yet indirect effects from higher import costs and food prices are projected to dominate the second half. The MPC’s 3.75% Bank Rate stance, alongside loosening labor market conditions, aims to limit second-round wage and price pressures, though upside risks remain if energy shocks persist. Market-implied odds across buckets underscore uncertainty over the scale of pass-through versus disinflationary forces from prior monetary tightening. Key catalysts include the September 2026 FOMC-aligned policy decision and upcoming energy market data releases.
