National Weather Service forecasts for Houston on September 17 project a high near 92°F under mostly sunny morning conditions that give way to a 50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, establishing the primary driver behind trader positioning around the low-90s range. These convective developments, fueled by high humidity and easterly flow, typically limit peak temperatures through increased cloud cover and evaporative cooling, aligning with the elevated implied probabilities for 88–91°F outcomes. Model consensus shows modest spread tied to storm timing and intensity, while climatological norms for mid-September highs near 90°F provide baseline context. Afternoon forecast updates from NOAA and refined high-resolution model runs will likely refine these probabilities ahead of market resolution.
