Persistent marine layer and moderate westerly onshore flow are capping daytime heating in San Francisco on September 20, 2026, with official forecasts centering a high near 63°F amid extensive low stratus and sea breezes of 7–12 mph. These conditions differentiate the tightly bunched 62–67°F market bins, as modest variations in afternoon clearing, exact wind speed, or station-specific measurement (downtown versus SFO) can shift the daily maximum by a degree or two. Recent NWS discussions note a stable ~1,500-foot-deep layer with no strong offshore gradient to erode it, keeping readings well below the 70.7°F September 20 climatological average. Trader consensus in the 64–65°F and 66–67°F outcomes aggregates real-time model consensus and live observations while acknowledging residual uncertainty in boundary-layer mixing before sunset.
