Incumbent Republican John Moolenaar seeks another term in Michigan's 2nd Congressional District, a seat covering rural and suburban counties in western and central Michigan that has consistently favored GOP candidates. Moolenaar won reelection in 2024 with 65 percent of the vote, reflecting the district's partisan composition and his established record on issues such as taxes, agriculture, and border policy. Democratic nominee Ben Ambrose emerged from the August 4 primary but faces structural headwinds in a district where Republicans have held the seat for multiple cycles. Trader consensus at 97.3 percent for the Republican reflects this baseline advantage and the absence of major recent disruptions. A significant scandal, health event, or unusually strong national Democratic wave could narrow the margin, though such shifts remain uncommon in this district based on historical patterns.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
