Incumbent Republican Mike Flood holds a substantial edge in Nebraska's 1st Congressional District heading into the November 2026 general election, backed by the seat's Republican tilt and his prior 60% victory margin. Flood ran unopposed in the May Republican primary, while Democrat Chris Backemeyer emerged from a competitive primary against Eric Moyer. Recent polling from May shows Flood ahead by single digits, with undecided voters and an independent candidate's campaign suspension due to family health issues further consolidating the field. The district's partisan voting index and limited Democratic infrastructure in rural areas reinforce trader consensus around an 83% probability for the Republican nominee.
