Recent polling and candidate confirmations position Reform UK's Robert Kenyon as the clear frontrunner for second place in the 18 June Makerfield by-election. Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham, selected as Labour's candidate, holds a narrow lead in constituency surveys, while generic Westminster voting intention favors Reform. Kenyon, a local plumber and 2024 candidate, benefits from this dynamic and national momentum for his party. Other contenders, including Rebecca Shepherd, trail significantly in limited polling and lack comparable visibility or organizational backing ahead of nominations closing and the final campaign week. The by-election follows the resignation of the previous Labour MP.
