Recent National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus point to a Thursday high near 78–80°F in Chicago, driven by northwest winds advecting cooler post-frontal air after Wednesday’s showers and storms. Lake Michigan moderation will likely cap readings in the mid-70s along the shoreline while inland areas approach 80°F, aligning with the market’s leading 80–81°F bin. This setup follows typical late-August climatology, where average highs reach about 81°F, though persistent cloud cover or stronger lake breezes could suppress peaks toward the 78–79°F range. Traders appear to weigh official airport observations against these localized effects, with limited upside risk from lingering model spread.
