Recent National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus indicate a high in the mid-90s for Houston on August 28, following several days of 100°F+ readings earlier in the week. A pattern shift is introducing scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms with 30-40% probability, which may limit peak heating through cloud cover and evaporative cooling while steering winds remain light. This yields the tight market split between the 92-93°F and 94-95°F bins, as small differences in timing or coverage of convection can determine whether the daily maximum settles in the lower or upper half of the mid-90s range typical for late August.
