Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for Houston on September 17 points to a high near 89–92°F amid a 50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with easterly winds near 10 mph and high humidity. These conditions create uncertainty around peak heating, as cloud cover and precipitation timing can suppress temperatures below recent mid-90s readings. Trader sentiment clusters on the 88–91°F bins because official forecasts emphasize the moderating influence of storms without consensus on whether clearing allows a brief push into the low 90s. Historical September baselines near 90°F provide context, but the near-term forecast updates remain the dominant driver.
