**Short-term forecast models from agencies like MetService and international ensembles indicate a mild spring day for Wellington on September 6, with the daily maximum most likely reaching 14–16 °C under prevailing northwesterly flow ahead of an approaching front.** Northwesterly winds are expected to advect relatively warm maritime air, supporting afternoon highs near or slightly above the September climatological average of ~14 °C, while increasing cloud cover and a 40–95 % chance of rain later in the period introduce modest cooling potential. Recent model runs show limited spread, with the strongest consensus around 15 °C, consistent with trader-implied probabilities favoring that outcome (51 %) followed by 16 °C (30.5 %). A shift to southerly winds behind the front by evening could cap the peak, keeping lower probabilities on 13 °C or below. Updated NWP guidance and MetService briefings in the next 24–48 hours will provide the key data points for any revision in market-implied odds.
