This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026, according to the CDC case counter by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter 'Total Cases' in 2026 (see: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html) at the resolution time. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources.Ongoing measles transmission in the United States, with CDC data showing 2,777 confirmed cases through August 20, 2026—already exceeding the full-year 2025 total of 2,289—drives market sentiment toward higher case counts by September 30. Weekly additions have accelerated to 211 cases in the most recent reporting period, concentrated in outbreaks in states including Pennsylvania and Ohio, where 94% of 2026 cases link to ongoing chains of transmission. Measles' high basic reproduction number (typically 12–18) enables rapid spread in under-vaccinated communities, with 19% of cases among children aged 5 and under and a 7% hospitalization rate underscoring sustained community circulation. CDC's weekly surveillance updates and state-level reporting will provide the next key data points before resolution, while historical patterns indicate seasonal persistence of outbreaks into early fall without interruption.
