This market will resolve to "Yes" if Jacob Coxon provides public testimony before either chamber of the United States Congress (House of Representatives or Senate), or any of their official committees or subcommittees, by October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". “Public testimony” refers to any testimony that is publicly accessible live (in-person or remote) via official livestream, television broadcast, or other live audio/video distribution. Any testimony or deposition that is closed-door or otherwise not publicly accessible will not qualify, even if recordings or transcripts are later released. The resolution source for this market will be live video or audio of the testimony; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Jacob Coxon, a former OpenAI and Anthropic researcher, resigned publicly on September 8, 2026, citing concerns over the unchecked race toward self-improving superintelligence and issuing stark warnings about existential risks. The viral X thread immediately prompted lawmakers including Rep. Greg Casar, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna to call for congressional hearings and consider legislation such as a superintelligence ban. No committee has announced a confirmed public appearance or subpoena for Coxon as of mid-September, and congressional scheduling for high-profile AI safety sessions remains fluid amid competing priorities. Traders appear to weigh the rapid political attention against procedural timelines and the absence of a firm hearing date before October 31.
