Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for Austin points to overnight lows in the mid-70s on September 21, driven by a persistent subtropical ridge suppressing strong cooling. Southerly to southeasterly winds around 5 mph, dew points near 70°F, and limited cloud cover reduce radiative heat loss overnight, keeping minimum temperatures elevated compared to drier or calmer patterns. Trader consensus across closely matched 70–77°F bins reflects this warm baseline alongside modest uncertainty in exact model runs, local urban heat effects, and any stray evening convection that could briefly alter cooling rates. Updated forecasts and new model cycles ahead of the overnight period remain the key near-term catalysts.
