Official National Weather Service forecasts and supporting model guidance indicate a high in the upper 60s for Chicago on September 20, driven by lingering cloud cover, scattered showers, and persistent northeast winds of 15–20 mph with gusts to 30 mph that limit surface heating and advect cooler air. This setup follows an active Saturday system and deviates below the 1991–2020 average high of 74°F. The near-even market split between 68–69°F and 70–71°F reflects minor uncertainties in exact precipitation timing, cloud breaks, and boundary-layer mixing that could nudge the peak by a degree or two. Updated model runs and NWS briefings ahead of the daytime period will provide the clearest signals for resolution.
