Forecast consensus from the National Weather Service and other models centers on a high near 94°F for Houston on September 20, driven by persistent mid- and upper-level ridging that promotes subsidence, clear to mostly sunny skies, and strong daytime solar heating under light easterly to southeasterly winds. Above-average temperatures relative to the 88.5°F climatological normal reflect this stable pattern, with dew points rising Sunday and introducing a slight afternoon thunderstorm risk that could briefly limit peak heating. Market-implied odds favoring the 94–95°F bin align with these model runs, while lower probabilities for 96°F+ reflect the narrow window for additional warming absent stronger ridging or drier air. Updated NWS guidance and afternoon observations will refine the exact maximum before resolution.
