Incumbent Republican Nick Begich faces Republican challengers including Eddie Goldfarb and Clay Strickland plus Democratic and independent candidates in Alaska’s August 18 top-four primary for the at-large House seat. The nonpartisan primary advances the four highest vote-getters to the November general election, which uses ranked-choice voting. The June 1 filing deadline closed the candidate field, with anti-incumbent Democratic challengers such as Matt Schultz highlighting fundraising and endorsements as potential factors in primary positioning. Begich’s 2024 victory and the state’s recent Republican lean shape early dynamics ahead of the primary.
