Recent monthly GDP prints and preliminary estimates showing 0.3% growth in May followed by 0.2% in June have kept multiple outcome bins clustered near even odds, with the 0.2-0.3% range holding a modest edge at 46.5% implied probability. Traders are weighing signs of Q2 rebound—driven by goods-producing sectors, mining, and exports—against the Bank of Canada’s July 2026 Monetary Policy Report, which lowered its full-year growth forecast by 0.5 percentage points due to weaker government spending and inventory dynamics earlier in the year. Persistent energy-price pressures from geopolitical tensions, a policy rate held at 2.25%, and upcoming August data releases create balanced risks across the narrow monthly ranges, reflecting the inherent volatility of high-frequency GDP figures and limited consensus on the precise June print.
