Recent National Weather Service forecasts and supporting model guidance point to a highest temperature in the low-to-mid 70s°F for Chicago on September 18, driven by persistent easterly to northeasterly flow off Lake Michigan that moderates inland warming while widespread cloud cover limits daytime heating. Highs near the lake are expected to reach only the lower 70s, with slightly warmer readings possible farther inland, consistent with the market’s heaviest weighting on 72–73°F. This setup follows a period of showers and thunderstorms that has kept recent daily maxima near or below seasonal norms, with the September 18 climatological average high of 75°F providing context for the slightly cooler outlook. Updated NWS briefings and afternoon model runs will offer the next key data points ahead of market resolution.
