In Malta's snap general election scheduled for May 30, 2026, the contest for third place remains tight because AD+PD and Momentum each poll near 2-3 percent in the latest surveys, with AD+PD holding a narrow edge. Their April agreement to coordinate candidates across districts and encourage preference transfers without merging has consolidated progressive votes and prevented direct competition, sustaining the closeness. Momentum's mid-May manifesto launch, emphasizing governance reforms, housing affordability, and environmental measures, has narrowed the gap from earlier leads, while AD+PD continues to draw steady support on established green and infrastructure priorities. In Malta's single transferable vote system, low overall third-party baselines and undecided voters mean final rallies, debates, and turnout among centrists could still determine which party secures the position.
