Recent moderation in South Korea’s CPI, which eased to 2.8% year-over-year in July 2026 from 3.2% in June amid fading transport and food pressures, supports the leading 2.7-2.9% band for full-year inflation. This outcome trades slightly ahead of the 3.0%+ range as energy price volatility and a weaker won continue to pose upside risks, while Bank of Korea projections and government forecasts center near 2.7% for 2026. Strong semiconductor-driven growth and core inflation near 2.6% add to the balanced contest between these outcomes, with upcoming monthly releases and oil price trends likely to determine whether the annual rate settles in the mid-2% range or pushes higher.
