National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus position Chicago’s September 13 high in the low-to-mid 70s, with northwest flow behind a frontal passage limiting afternoon warming and introducing a 30-40% chance of light showers that further cap temperatures. This aligns with the market’s heaviest volume on 72-75°F outcomes, reflecting trader assessment of recent guidance showing readings several degrees below the late-summer climatological normal near 77°F. Cooler Canadian air and increasing cloud cover are the dominant factors suppressing the peak, while any clearing or delayed shower development could allow brief excursions toward 76°F before resolution criteria are met at official reporting stations. Updated NWS model runs and hourly observations will provide the final calibration.
