Recent moderation in Brazilian inflation and signs of economic slowdown underpin the 73% market-implied probability of a 25-basis-point Selic cut at the November Copom meeting. August IPCA fell 0.32% month-over-month—the lowest reading in four years—with the 12-month rate easing to 4.22%, while activity indicators show gradual cooling in cyclical sectors. The September 25-basis-point reduction to 13.75% marked the fifth consecutive easing step, and the latest Focus survey now projects the year-end Selic at 13.50%, consistent with one additional cut. Election-related fiscal uncertainty and inflation expectations remaining above the 3% target (at 4.92% for 2026) support the 21.5% odds of no change, leaving the November outcome data-dependent.
