A special election primary for California's 14th Congressional District is set for June 16, 2026, two days from now, to fill the vacancy created by Eric Swalwell's resignation. California's top-two system means the two highest vote-getters advance to an August 18 general. Aisha Wahab holds the state Democratic Party endorsement and leads recent tallies near 38 percent, followed by Melissa Hernandez around 17 percent. Multiple other Democrats and two Republican candidates split the remaining vote in this heavily Democratic Bay Area seat. Early voting patterns, turnout among Democratic-leaning blocs, and any last-minute shifts in endorsements or campaign spending will determine the top-two finishers.
