Recent August inflation data at 6.24% year-over-year, the highest in two years and above the 3% target, has reinforced the need for a restrictive policy stance at the Banco de la República, following earlier 2026 hikes that lifted the benchmark rate to 12%. Board communications highlight ongoing pressures from the minimum wage increase and indexation effects, yet recent holds and analyst surveys point to a data-dependent pause rather than further tightening. Market-implied odds of 76.5% for no change in October reflect this consensus, with the stronger peso providing additional restraint. The September 30 meeting and subsequent inflation releases will shape the path.

Increases or decreases of less than 25 bps will be rounded to 25 bps (e.g. an increase or decrease of 10 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 25 bps). Increases or decreases of greater than 25 bps will be rounded to the nearest 25 bps and will be rounded away from 0 in cases of equidistance (e.g., an increase or decrease of 37.5 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 50 bps).
