Recent forecast guidance from NOAA and other models points to a warm, humid night across the New York metro area on September 2, with showers and thunderstorms expected to limit overnight radiative cooling and maintain elevated dew points. This setup favors minimum temperatures clustered in the upper 60s to low 70s, aligning with the market’s tight clustering around the 68–73 °F bins that together exceed 75 % implied probability. Persistent southeast flow and cloud cover from an approaching system are suppressing the typical seasonal drop toward the 65 °F climatological average, while any earlier or more intense precipitation could nudge readings slightly lower. Traders appear to weigh these variables against the narrow window before resolution, with model runs showing modest spread in timing and intensity of the rain.
