Vail Resorts faces significant headwinds entering its fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 earnings, with market-implied odds heavily favoring a miss on GAAP EPS consensus. Persistent unfavorable weather across western U.S. resorts drove a 15% visitation drop and 7% revenue decline in Q3, prompting management to cut full-year net income guidance to $128–162 million and resort EBITDA to $735–755 million. Early 2026/2027 season pass sales through late May showed unit volumes down 10% and dollars off 5% year over year, reflecting softer advance commitments. These factors, combined with ongoing cost pressures and recent activist investor activity around board nominations, underpin trader skepticism despite resource efficiency initiatives expected to deliver over $100 million in annualized savings. The September 28 earnings release will provide key visibility on summer lodging trends and any further revisions to outlooks.
