The pair traded near 158 this week after Japan's Ministry of Finance intervened in late April to cap a spike above 160.72, underscoring intervention risks amid surging JGB yields and carry trade pressures. Year-end forecasts diverge from 150-164, with BoJ's June 15 decision and U.S. nonfarm payrolls as pivotal catalysts that could widen or narrow the yield gap driving market-implied odds.
