Current short-range forecasts from NWS and private models converge on a high near 80–81°F for New York City on September 18, driven by a building ridge, northerly flow after frontal passage, and reduced cloud cover that limits afternoon mixing. This places the outcome above the 1991–2020 average high of 75.6°F while remaining well below record territory. The tight clustering of market-implied odds between the 80–81°F and 82–83°F bins reflects genuine uncertainty in exact peak timing and boundary-layer details across ensemble members, with lower-probability tails capturing risks of greater clearing or lingering moisture. Updated model runs and official NHC/NOAA guidance over the next 48 hours will provide the clearest signals for resolution.
