Recent forecasts from models such as GFS place the September 17 high temperature in New York City near 80°F under mostly cloudy skies with southerly flow and a chance of showers, positioning 82-83°F as the market leader at 35% implied probability. This reflects slight warming relative to mid-September climatological averages of 75-78°F, driven by persistent southerly winds and limited mixing. Traders appear to weigh model consensus against potential afternoon clearing or convective development that could push readings into the mid-80s. Key upcoming updates include the next NWS and NOAA model runs, which will refine maximum temperature guidance ahead of the 24-hour verification window used for market resolution.
