This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a diplomatic meeting between representatives of the United States and Cuba between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A diplomatic meeting refers to a deliberate meeting between representatives of the listed countries who are acting in an official capacity and are authorized to engage in negotiation or diplomacy regarding US-Cuba relations on behalf of their governments. Meetings conducted indirectly, for example, through designated mediators, facilitators, or interlocutors acting with the knowledge and authorization of the relevant governments, will qualify. Brief greetings, chance encounters, or talks otherwise not deliberately aimed at diplomacy or negotiation will not count. The meeting must be in-person and must be publicly acknowledged by either government or reported by a consensus of credible media. Remote meetings, phone calls, or other meetings where the relevant parties are not present will not count. The resolution sources for this market will be official information from the governments of the United States and Cuba, and a consensus of credible reporting.Recent diplomatic engagement between the United States and Cuba has centered on Cuba's acute energy shortages and U.S. sanctions, with Cuban officials confirming talks aimed at addressing the blockade's impact on fuel supplies. In April 2026, U.S. State Department representatives held meetings in Havana—the first such direct contact in years—followed by a May visit from CIA Director John Ratcliffe. These developments occurred against a backdrop of Trump administration pressure, including sanctions targeting Cuban leadership and public calls for a negotiated deal or regime change, while Havana has signaled openness to dialogue on economic and security issues without preconditions on its political system. Upcoming factors include potential follow-up sessions on migration, counterterrorism, or energy relief, alongside any shifts in congressional or executive policy that could expand or restrict bilateral channels before key deadlines. Trader assessments reflect the tension between these incremental contacts and broader U.S. demands for structural reforms.
