An arrest warrant was issued as part of broader Trump administration pressure on Cuba, with officials noting the possibility of Castro appearing in US court “by his own will or by another way,” referencing prior operations like the Maduro case. Castro, now 95, has remained in Cuba with no reported departure or extradition, while the Cuban government has condemned the move as political. No further enforcement actions or diplomatic breakthroughs have occurred since the unsealing of the indictment.
